Some Brief History about me....

I've always been extremely eager to learn about all of the ways you can make money from the internet.

There are so many different ways to make money, I'll admit that it can get very overwhelming.

But, if you boil everything down into the one "thing" that is necessary to generate money online - "it comes down to how well you can generate "targeted" traffic to your website."

When I started online, way back in the early 2000s, I owned a aquariam supply related website.

I managed to get my website to the top of Google for the most competitive keywords in the world. Keywords like: salt water aquarium, aquarium supplies, wholesale aquarium supplies

I put ALOT of work into getting my website to the top of Google for those keywords. Why did I spend so much time and effort to try and rank highly for those keywords?

I'll tell you exactly why... Because I knew those keywords would send ALOT of traffic to my site. Back in the day, I thought...

Alot of traffic = Alot of sales.....!

WRONG........

I mean, heck, common sense would tell you that the more traffic you got to your website, the more sales you would make, right?

WRONG ... Back then, I, like most other people, thought that's the way it all worked, or I obviously wouldn't have spent to much time and effort on those keywords.

Let me explain....

While I did have #1 rankings for nearly every single major keyword related to the aquarium supplies industry and it was bringing in over 10,000 visitors to my dinky little website PER DAY, the conversion rate (i.e. the amount of sales I made per visitor) was ridiculously low.

I sold roughly 1 product for every 1,000 people that came to my site.

That's a .1% conversion rate. You heard me right, "point one percent".

If you don't know what a good conversion rate is, let me just say that you should never have below a 1 percent conversion rate, let alone a .1 percent. Getting 1,000 visitors to your site per day takes a heck of a lot of work....

".....If I had to do it all over again, I would NOT spend my time on such broad, competitive keyword phrases like: weight loss. ... only to have such a poor visitor value and very little return for my time and effort....."

I would spend my time ranking for, bidding on, and basing my entire business on keywords that are already 100% proven to convert visitors into buyers....

Because, let's face it, we want people to come to our website and BUY our stuff. We don't want people visiting our site if they're just going to leave, right....?

There are two major problems that online marketers have, and they are:

They focus on extremely broad keywords that just bring a lot of random traffic to their websites. They don't know how to properly research their market to find which people are buying what they're selling.

Because you've read up to this point, problem #1 should no longer be a sticking point for you. It can lead to a lot of extra work, with very little results.

"......In fact, in my case, it was downright depressing to have 10,000 daily visitors, only to make 10 sales a day. I had imagined that when the day came that I had 10,000 daily visitors, I'd be sitting on the beach somewhere, sipping margaritas :-) and that obviously didn't happen...."

So, at this point, the only problem that remains is not knowing how to properly research a market or niche, to find exactly which people are buying what you're selling.

He says that Links on Twitter are already nofollowed and most are shortened anyway by a shortener. What use can Twiitter be for link building? Link building Eric Ward says the site is perfect for finding niche experts.

It’s not about huge amounts of followers or traffic spikes. You can get that kind of traffic from Digg. But the advantage of Twitter, says Ward, is that people specific to an industry are out there, findable on Twitter.

So if you specialize in little plastic doohickeys they put on shoestrings, irrelevant traffic is not what you’re after. At Search Engine Land, Ward explains how a message that begins as a tweet ends up as a link from a highly trusted website:

A few weeks ago I announced a new site via URLwire, and whenever I do this I
set up several alerts/trackers to see where mentions/links show up. I also set
up a Twitter search for that new URL....the new site I announced has been
tweeted or re-tweeted by seven people…I discovered all of them were health
experts in one form or another. Also, all of them had several hundred followers
(one had 780), and a quick check of a few dozen of those showed some overlap
(expected) as well as frequent health URL tweets. In other words, I’d found a
loose community of several thousand collective Twitterer’s who had shared news
about a new web site URL.

One of those re-tweets came from a librarian at a med school web site, who did
one more thing with that URL. She added a link to it from the med school web
site she’s in charge of editing. What started to her as a tweet ended as a
permanent link from her high trust web page.

What’s even better about that is that earned link was a free, organic one, the best kind. No manipulation, no buying, no trading. And that one very trusted link is likely to outweigh many links (however they're gotten) from not-so-trusted websites.

And of course, Twitter's 140-character may prove a little limiting when announcements or queries related to technical matters are concerned.

It’s been generally thought that a webmaster could not request the removal of another webmaster’s content from Google’s search results. A Google representative says that’s not always the case and that Google will remove third-party results under certain conditions.

In most cases, Google leaves it between webmasters, and if someone wants site content removed, they should contact the site owner in question and deal with them directly for removal—from the Internet.

But there are situations where Google will consider a removal request for problem content or problem sites in its search results. They are as follows:

If the site is a spam site.
If a webmaster believes the site is engaged in buying or selling links that pass PageRank.
If the content posted constitutes copyright infringement, which will require a DMCA takedown request.
If the site is believed to house malware (viruses, malicious software, phishing, etc.).
If a webpage contains personal, private information, request for removal can be made via the URL removal tool.

John Mueller, Google’s Webmaster Trends Analyst, outlines other reasons a person may request third-party removal:

The site owner has modified a page so that it no longer contains the information or image that concerns me.
The site owner has removed a page/image or blocked it from being indexed by using robots.txt or meta tags.
You've been unable to work with the site owner, but the information appearing in the search results is one of the following:
1. Your social security or government ID number
2· Your bank account or credit card number
3· Your image of my handwritten signature
4· Your full name or the name of your business appearing on an adult content site that's spamming Google's search results.

Google has received numerous requests for local business ad reporting, so soon AdWords advertisers will have access to a new interaction report for local business ads via their account's Report Center. Kelly says it will help you accurately assess your ROI with local business ads by detailing how many users opened your info window and clicked on each of the new interactive links."

Often, Maps users are looking for different information than Search users," she says. "The new interactive links and the interaction reports should not only help customers connect with you faster but should also help you understand how to better target Maps users versus Search users.
